Specialized Care for People Living With Misophonia
At Misophonia Treatment Centers of America, we understand that strong reactions to everyday sounds and sights can affect relationships, routines, and quality of life. Our purpose is to help people reduce the distress associated with misophonia through personalized, evidence-informed care.
We bring together licensed clinicians who are specifically trained by us in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Misophonia (CBT-M). Our work combines a shared treatment approach with attention to each person’s experiences, challenges, and goals.

Our Mission
Our mission is to help people with misophonia experience less distress and participate more comfortably in everyday life.
We take your reactions seriously. By understanding how misophonia affects you, we work toward reducing—and, where possible, eliminating—the emotional and distress responses associated with your triggers. Each person’s progress and outcomes are different.
The Foundation of Our Approach
Our treatment approach draws on Tom Dozier’s work in misophonia theory, research, and treatment since 2012. It also incorporates CBT-M techniques that Dr. Nate Mitchell has used since 2018 to help individuals substantially reduce their misophonia symptoms.
Central to our approach is our theory that misophonia involves an acquired reflex developed through conditioning. Under this model, certain sounds or sights come to produce automatic reactions that contribute to emotional distress.
Our treatment uses counterconditioning techniques intended to reduce these learned responses, alongside cognitive behavioral strategies tailored to the individual. This model guides our clinical approach as research into misophonia continues to develop.
Clinicians With Specialized Training
Understanding misophonia requires attention to the specific ways people experience and respond to their triggers.
Our licensed clinicians receive training from Misophonia Treatment Centers of America in CBT-M. This provides a shared foundation for care while allowing treatment to be adapted to each person’s needs.
From your first conversation through ongoing treatment, our focus is on understanding your experience and helping you work toward meaningful, personal goals.
